Pressure Washing Tip #003: Absorb Fresh Oil Stains First!
When it comes to cleaning up fresh oil spills on concrete, you want to remove as much oil as you can before it seeps down into the pores of the concrete, this is why oil stains last.
You will want to absorb as much oil as you can quickly, a cheap solution, with something you might already have around the house, is cat litter! It is a great absorbent and easily disposable once it has been used.
You will want to pour it directly onto the oil spill, and if you can, use some shoes you don’t care about to crush the cat litter deeper into the pores of the concrete to absorb any that has already started to fall into the concrete and act as a small barrier from more oil going deeper. Let this sit for a couple of hours and sweep up what you can.
This quick step will prep your stain to be pressure washed much easier and now a professional degreaser and pressure washer can be used in tandem to remove the majority of the surface level of oil. This will make your oil stain much lighter and less noticeable!
